LastPass Password Manager App Reviews

Its just okay. Not great.

The app, its just okay. Its not really that useful because I have the Chrome extension already installed. But it somtimes comes in handy. The one thing I really dislike is the "Did you know?" section that comes up every time. Yes, Ive been using last pass for over a year, I know these basic steps. Let me disable that view.

Terrible UI/UX

A password manager is a great idea but LastPass has a user interface that makes it a chore. As a premium user, and I’m switching to 1Password because the doesn’t receive updates frequently enough. Also, the LastPass app for Mac crashes upon every startup. If you enjoy opening software twice every time you want to use it, choose LastPass.

Oh my!

The most secure password manager, you launch it once and it crashes shortly after showing the login screen. Then you launch it again and it lets you in without any credentials. Just beautiful.

Buggy, really really unsecure

This entire experience has been extreamly buggy for me. The Safari plug-in doesn’t let me add attachements, even though the binary is installed. I thought this dsektop app would fix that issues. I downloaded it, and ran it for the first time, it crashed instantly. I figured, oh well, I’ll try it again. I opened it, and right away it opened up showing all my information, without me even having to log in. After spending about 4 hours setting up all my accounts, I think I’m going to try and use a different solution like dashlanes. I have been using 1Password for a while but they are more aimed at Mac and iOS. If you’re using Windows and use 1password it’s horrible to use.

Best Damn Password Manager Put There

Love the feature set and the support. I use this as a way to save all my stuff. I shared the master password with my wife and even put it in my will. If I go my wife has it all!

nice but repair needed

Guys, app is awsome but has issues on mac os mavericks. you cant normally create a note ‘cause it doesn’t write the note from the first time - only caption. so once you created a note you have to fill it. and after a note created it is only of a common type - you can’t say it is a rdp or database - that makes a note miserable. please repair! if you create a note on a web page - it’s presented in app normally

first impressions

So far I’ve noticed one annoying thing in desktop version - text is not vertically aligned in inputs. Developers, please fix it) Also when you first try to add site and press cancel there is no add button - you have to switch to another section and then back to Sites. Apart from this app looks very promising )

Keeps crashing

From the very moment I open it.

Broken App, poor support.

Does not work at all with a Premium Account and 2fa enabled.

Blocks password auto complete in web browser

When I installed the extension it stopped my web browser from filling in passwords (even after removing the extension). Tried LastPass out on a recommendation. Id previously been mostly using my web browsers built in password manager. After installing it on my laptop, the app prompted me to install the LastPass browser extension, so I did. Then I noticed that login pages where my username and password would normally be pre-filled had only a three dot [...] symbol put there by LastPass. I have a lot of passwords stored in the web browser (for sites that arent really important to me but for some reason require a login). I hadnt migrated these to LastPass because I was just trying it out. So I deleted the LastPass extension and restarted the browser. No effect. Still no passwords. Tried with many different sites to make sure. Still no passwords. I can see that the passwords are still in the web browser password manager, but they just dont get filled in. So its not a disaster, just an unnecessary inconvenience to have to fill them in manually by copy/pasting. Very annoying. Also kind of insidious that it (either intentionally or unintentionally) sabotaged another tool fufilling the same function.

DO NOT USE

Installing this completely broke LastPass autologins in firefox. Logins are now missing or don’t show up on this computer, but display correctly on the two other machines with lastpass for firefox installed. Very disappointing to see LastPass release such buggy software.

Currently does NOT REPLACE LP browser extensions

If you thought (like I did) that this desktop mac app will replace your safari/firefox browser extension(s) it will not. If you want to search the web and have passwords populate at your password protected sights, this app will not do that. if you want a way to view/edit/add sites/forms to your last pass account then this will do that.

Works Like a Charm for me!

This app has saved me. Life before saving passwords was an utter nightmare. Trust me…people still have two page lists of their passwords and keep them at home…that will be great when someone breaks into your house and has all your passwords. I have had no problems absoutely with this program. What i can’t believe is how people are complainign about it not working. I’m really beginning to think the people having the problems are doing something wrong and they don’t know it. Human error failure? could it be? An then the reviews from people as though they are software developers? hello! It works when you work it!

LastPass: GOOD. LastPass app for Mac: BAD

One-star reviewers of this app are correct. It’s a shambles. Its not exemplary of other efforts by Marvasol. The reviewer named dridobits wonders whether we’re doing it wrong. No, this app is simply broken. I detail the ways below. Background: I’m a network engineer and password complexity is must. I’ve been a paid lastpass user since it was released many years ago and even run the Enterprise version at work. Here are the problems: 0. Lastpass app for Mac crashes a lot. It often doesn’t show up in the Alt-Tab list of applications which probably means memory leak. It needs attention 1. App Launches in “add a site” mode. Most people want to search for passwords when they launch. Why would it come up with an open website add dialog? 2. Lastpass does not work when offline. Ever need to log into your home router to do diagnostics when Internet connection is down? Make sure you’ve stored that password somewhere else since Lastpass chokes. I feel embarassed because I’ve looped in many of my co-workers at Apple to start using this software. Unfortunately, 1Password is probably going to remain the dominant password manage in OS X world. Marvasol: take a week or two and dedicate some time to fixing this app. It’s not OK to expect your paying customers to put up with this half baked effort.

Buggy. Prone to crashing.

Likely to crash immediately after you enter your password. Take note of the many 1-star reviews here.

Does what it says

I’ve been using last pass for just under a year now. I’m no power user, I just needed a cloud-based password storage solution. This app is the answer to all of my complaints about last pass so far. Unlike the web interface, it’s well laid-out and it’s responsive and snappy. Unlike the browser extension, it’s not constantly fighting the Mac OS keychain to auto-fill my passwords anymore. Either way, when login pages move or change format, last pass struggles, and I’d rather just have a native OS X app where I can copy my passwords with a single click, always a command+tab away. As far as people complaining about crashing and memory leaks, I’m running a 2015 15” Retina MacBook and have had no performance issues. For those that lament that without an internet connection you can’t access your passwords -that’s exactly what I would expect from a cloud-based password storage solution anyway. It’s not mind-blowing, but this app is a less invasive, responsive way to access your Last Pass service.

Very buggy

Even the latest version 3.11 is still very buggy. It’s nothing like the browser extension, which works perfectly. This Mac version is just not ready for prime time.

does not work on my macbook air

I’ve used the app on windows based computers just fine. The macbook version doesn’t fill in the fiields, I can see my vault but the app doesn’t work to autofill the username and password.

Buggy. Very buggy.

Inconsistent Behaviour. Inconsistent design/structure v Browser plugin version. To access attachments, sometimes requires to click Edit, sometimes not. Still, it is a good an app with a good purpose, buy poorly executed. LP Developers: please test, test, test before publishing. Thanks

No Longer Works

The app no longer works. I attempt to log in and the app simply quits. When I enter an incorrect password, it will state the password is incorrect. But a correct password, causes the app to quit.
