LastPass Password Manager App Reviews

Buggy Mac and Safari app

Very buggy. Using Mac and Safari on OSX El Capitan. Premium account. The Mac application sometimes does not recognize my master password for strength checking. It also does not display folders after I create them, even though these folders will show up in the web app. When I created new folders in the web application, the folders did not show up in my Mac application, even after I restarted the app. In the web application on Safari, I tried to drag passwords to folders. I dragged one password into a folder and a different password was actually placed in that folder. And then I couldn’t drag any more passwords to other folders.

Good but could be better

I have used LastPass over four years. The application is more refined for the Windows version than the OS X version. The newest version does not always logout of the database as configured in the security section which is a concern. For the money as compared to the other competition I would rate Lastpass a good buy.

A password manager that frees your grey matter for important stuff !!!

Excellent Cross-Platform Application that keeps improving everyday. Wish it could be better integrated with other apps.

Every release gets a better...

It’s getting there, every release gets a little better. There needs to be more thought put into the process, placement, default selections, screen size, etc. Seems like a lot of wasted real estate on my screen just by opening the app. Also, you can eaily lose information you are trying to save. Let’s say you create a new site, fill in all the information then walk away from the comptuer for a sec or active your screen saver without hitting Save. When you come back the app has logged you out and discarded everything you did. More thought needs to be put into workflow, what are the most common things people are doing with your app, make those more productive/efficient. Clean up the UI, it takes up too much real estate right now and I doesnt size well. If you do size it real small and click on a site you cannot see the details because the window get out of whack. The reason I stay with LastPass is because of the great Enterprise support. 1Password has an excellent UI, but not as good Enterprise support as LastPass.

Lastpass WAS a good ap but not now in Version 4

I have used Lastpass for several years and have a PAID Premium account. Version 4 is terrible! Not user friendly! Hard to read - on a Laptop! Search is light pink text on dark pink background. Only 7 lines of text - sites that it tracks passwords - per screen - same number as on a 4 inch iPad touch! Version 3 had 14 lines visible at a time. Lots of blank space. I use this with hundreds of sites so it takes forever to scroll through to find anything. Did I mention that the main text is medium grey on light grey background. Text on the sidebar is medium grey on dark grey! I have a high resolution screen and it is hard to read! Version 3 was black text on white background. They say Version 4 has bigger icons for each website that it has a password for. BUT the icons are so BIG you can only see 4 and a half icons at a time on a laptop!!! Their header takes 1/3 of the screen for 3 lines of text - one line is their name! NOT user friendly and VERY bad design from a user’s point of view. Frustrating to use! I counted! It took 48 screens of 4 and one half icons (and you can’t read the half icon) to scroll through the list of sites. Version 3. was legible black on white text that you could read. The Selection or highlight bar shows Launch obscuring the icon for each site. The edit button is gone - only available in light grey on medium grey selection highlight bar???? You have to memorize the software to know how to use it!! Edit and delete are hidden. The useful features are hidden - in Version 4. There is a new feature, or is it a BUG? You can let any friend have full access to your account! They just need to buy Lastpass software. Surely non of your friends will ever get hacked. All your password access is available to others as a FEATURE! The new owner of Lastpass is LogMeIn. Clearly, they don’t know what SECURITY is. I have used Lastpass for years and was not worried about the security of my passwords. Now that LogMeIn has opened up a "back door" to my passwords for my friends, I am going to find a secure password manager elsewhere!

Not sure what point is; missing feature

Seems OK so far but I’m not sure what the point of it is yet. Lastpass works fine with my Chrome extension and I haven’t figured out the purpose of the app. Maybe I will though. Feature request: When I look up sites in my vault on the web browser, Last Pass tells me when I last used the password. “Last Used: 1 year ago.” It’s a very helpful feature; I rely on it frequently. It doesn’t seem to exist on the app.

Tarheel630

I have found that the App exceeds its expectations. It is well organized internally to have a place for each of your categories. I t does get better with each upgrade and I just renewed for another year to keep my private stuff private. There are other Apps often more expensive but no that protect you as well as LastPass.

No Good

Waste of time. Limited import option. Autofill does not work. Beautiful design and logos but not intuitive to use.

custom fields missing

The custom fields for form fills are missing in this version also, type is a little light

Hopeful, will keep watching

The stand-alone desktop app is definitely something that I was looking forward to with LastPass, and will continue to keep an eye on. In it’s current state however, the app is underwhelming, especially on a laptop or desktop, and especially when compared to even the browser extension vault. From the app, I can not access the sharing center, and the desktop app really mostly just feels like a bigger version of the ios app. I *love* that ios app, with one small gripe (I want to be able to use just touchID on the iPhone instead of typing my very long master password), but that interface simply doesn’t work on a laptop where you’d expect at least all of the featuers that the browser extension has. FWIW, I’m a premium user and have been since credit mointoring was first released so long ago. LastPass has been my constant companion and I look forward to seeing this app grow.

Mediocre

Giant fonts and lots of wasted white-space. Desperately in need of a UI designer. Prompts at logon that I’m accessing cached data which may be vulnerable; suggests that this may be turned off on “Multifactor page”. Cannot find “Multifactor” in any of the menus or Preferences. Disabling and sticking with browser extension. PS: Does LastPass/Marvasol even still support this app—why does it still have the abandoned logo?

remember password? no? okay, remembering password

You had one job: wrap an API with a dozen existing wrappers. User opens app for first time. User logs in and sees data, leaving remember password unchecked. User closes app. User opens app. App closes self. User reopens app. App shows user data, not having had to enter a password.

Love me some LastPass

This is a general rating 4 LastPass as a whole n not just the app so much. LastPass is excellent n 1/5 the price of 1Password.

It’s okay.

Not as useful as the browser extension. Biggest gripe: why does it continue to prompt me to download the browser extension??

Excellent and easy to

use across several platforms

please correct the logo

Logo looks correct in Mac App Store but in the Mac it is without rounded borders which looks very ugly.

Worst user experience ever

Opening the app: 1. Open app, 2. Type your password, 3. Repeat step 1 because app crashed. (Repeat this loop 2-3 times until app stays open.) Searching for passwords: 1. Search sites. 2. Search Secure notes. 3. Search Form fills. 4. Repeat step 1 with different key words. Creating new logins for web sites (in 7 frustrating steps): 1. Choose to generate a new password when creating your new account. 2. Continue to log in to web site. 3. Lastpass neglects to prompt you to save a new login. 4. Open Lastpass manually to save new login. 5. Search for password you just generated and never find it. 6. Finish adding login to Lastpass. 7. Go back to site to "recover your password". I use 1Password for my personal accounts. My company chose Lastpass, unfortunately. There’s no comparison. 1Password wins in every category.

Client is buggy

The client is buggy. Some things you can only do in the web interface. It is really cumbersome to move items from one folder to another.

Big fan

I’ve been using LastPass on Windows, iOS and now on the Mac. I’m a big fan and finally got my wife to start using it as well. Clean interface, nice quick search option from the top menu bar and straightforward implementation. The ability to also form fill is a convenient benefit as well. Highly recommend!

Love Lastpass. But the Mac version has issues.

I use Lastpass on both Windows and Mac computers. I do use “Lastpass for Applications” on Windows, which is a similar function to the Mac version here. However the Mac version has a few issues, which is why this only gets 2 stars instead of the 5 it should be. 1) First issue is a MAJOR security issue! Although both the options for “automatically log off after idle” is set to 60 minutes and the other option “automatically logout when exit application” are enabled, this never happens. Lastpass will stay logged in even if the computer is idle for hours or goes into sleep mode. Also when restarting the computer, which would be considered exiting the application, it stays logged in even after the reboot. So Lastpass is not logging out as it should. This function works just fine on the Windows version. 2) The taskbar logo. Both the new logo version and the original old logo, it is very difficult to tell if you’re actually signed in or not. Other applications can allow colored logos in the task bar, but Lastpass does not have the colors. I think the dots should be red when logged in, and black when not logged in. Therefore it is a lot easier to tell the login status. That or some other way to easily tell, like if logged out, just have the three dots, but if logged in, have a black circle with three grey dots. 3) End up having to sign in multiple times. Seems to sometimes conflict with the browser plugins or sometimes doesn’t sync with the browser plugins (although binary versions are installed). Ends up logging it off, then have to log back in again, sometimes 2-3 times until they all sync. So something in that function is broken. I usually do not have these problems on the Windows version. 4) Firefox version on Mac seems to have the most issues. If Firefox is not already running before signing into this, it does not sync with Firefox. If signing in manually on Firefox at this point, it’ll sign in then immediately sign out of both the Firefox and desktop programs. Then I have to log back into the desktop one again, which then works (but as mentioned again, sometimes still have to sign in 2-3 times). 5) Chrome version on Mac also has issues. For some odd reason, the plugin seems to disable itself on Chrome for Mac. The account is synced with Google for that, however this never happens on the Windows version. This only happens on the Mac version. I constantly have to go into Chrome settings on the Mac and re-enable the plugin. 6) When Lastpass starts and after logging in, there is no option to suppress the Lastpass Vault window that pops up. I simply want to log in, but do not want the Vault to pop up afterwards. Again, the Windows version and browser plugins have the options to suppress this, but the Mac version does not. Please work on these issues on the Mac version as they are bug flaws that need to be addressed. As mentioned, I do not have these sorts of problems on the Lastpass for Applications version on Windows, but the Mac version seems to have all sorts of problems.
