I am unable to download the LastPass App for Macs. I get the following error: Failed to verify the preflight file. It is not signed by Apple.
I have the browser add-on installed in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera. Everything worked fine, so I wanted to check out the app as well. Installing the app halted/slowed web traffic to a crawl. Uninstalled, rebooted, and everything is back to awesome. I love LastPass. I hated this app.
I was under the impression that this is a password manager. I reviewed the website before downloading. But I can’t even start the app without creating an account. Why? I don’t want an account, I just want to store my passwords off line on my machine. That’s all. I’m not storing anything in the cloud, so then why do I need an account? No thanks. Deleted.
Just awful. Ive written reviews for previous versions where Ive listed my specific complaints but at this point the review is the same for each version. Major issues dont get fixed and more often than not more issues are introduced in each new version (this new version now stops responding after a period of time, requiring a force quit!) They also recently got hacked. Ive hit my limit. Im looking at their competitors and I recommend any other LastPass users do so as well. Like Ive said in previous reviews - if their app code is this bad how can we be so certain theyre taking proper precautions with our passwords on their servers?
I was hoping that everyone was wrong when it comes to the reviews. But I was very disappointed, I encountered lag, thank you hundred bugs and in glitches in my system, any greatly slow down side to deleted and restarted and then everything ran fine. Im hoping to develop for his will update this app soon am looking forward to a better version.
I LOATHE THIS APPLICATION MORE THAN ANYOTHER APP ON THE MARKET. IT GATHERED ALL MY INFO AND NOW REFUSES TO ALLOW ME TO SIGN IN AFTER MANY MANY MANY DAYS OF TRYING. I AM PULLING MY HAIR OUT. AT ONE POINT I KID U NOT I COMNTEMPLATED THROWING MY MAC AGAINST THE WALL. I HAVE EVEN BRIEFLY CONSIDERED HURTING MYSELF IN SOME NON LETHAL WAY JUST TO TAKE MY MIND OFF THIS UTTER RUBBISH OF AN APP. BUYER BEWARE. IF YOU BUY THIS BE SURE TO TAKE OUT SOME MORE LIFE INSURANCE FOR YOUR FAMILY, AS U VERY WELL MAY DO SOMETHING STUPID TO YOURSELF ONEDAY WHILE TRYING TO USE IT. I HATE MYSELF SO MUCH FOR HAVING BOUGHT IT.!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Mac app is terrible. Lags behind. When I try to read a note I just saved, it frequently refuses to display the note. It logs me out unexpectedly and tends to log me out of the browser extension too every time it fails. I’ve had it ramp up to 70% CPU use for no apparent reason. More often than not, the Mac app thinks my entire vault is empty when I log in and won’t let me do anything unti I “add some sites.” (I’ve been using the browser extensions and iOS app for three years. I have plenty of sites.) And the security check function has nothing to work on, since the rest of the app doesn’t realize it has data. Quit / restart / quit / restart ad nauseum. Then, all of the sudden, the gods smile on me and let me open my entire password vault—right from the app. But then the lagging responses start in again. For all the amazing work that has gone in to the iOS app and browser extensions, I know they’ll figure it out. Just not today.
I love LastPass and have been using it for years. I just transitioned to Mac and while the plug-in for safari works great. This app isn’t so good. I hope they improve it and I will keep watching.
I have been using the paid version of Last Pass on my PC for several years, without any problems. I just installed it on my IMAC, and it is non functioning. It is easier for me to switch to my pc laptop when I have to go online. If I switch full time to IMAC, I probably will not renew. In fact, there should be a credit issued to the Mac users, until the app works at the same level as on the PC.
The most convenient to use.
This LP app is "almost" useless for ME, but could be SOOOO much better. Ok, generally the reason to use this app would be quickly grab some passoword or secure info and then carry on. Unfortunately you CANT do that. Yes you can quickly "search" your db, but then what? You only have the option to "LAUNCH" or copy. How about "SEE" the password or "EDIT" the entry... but NO. Many times the app im using that asks for a password disables the "paste" function or simply doesnt accept the LastPass copied password - I actually need to be looking at the password or info and RETYPE into the offending app. LP should (by default) copy the password or open the vault (who in the world would use LP to launch the browser??!!) Or better yet, give us an option to choose default action - like simply viewing the info with large text! (take a lesson from Butler App) Still waiting for the engineers to make this app more useful. Till now I always have to open a browser to actually get what I need from LP.
You certainly can edit and see your passwords from this app. You can copy your passwords effortlessly. It allows me to have complex passwords for my applications that run on my mac (not just web passwords - like Think Or Swim trading platform). You can set it to remember your master password for your laptop which is fine for me as my laptop is in a secure location - so logging in is painless. Synching works, Launching works. Editing works. What else can you ask for?
The constant tinkering has broken LP. Features that were once standard now require additional payment - even for existing users who already paid for them! That is nothing short of extortion. I’m a Mac user now forced to look for an alternative to LP, a company I can no longer trust.
This app works adequately as a password manager and I am sticking with it. The two best things about this app are 1) you don’t have to use a Lastpass browser plugin 100% of the time 2) the quick search feature (with hotkey) is very convenient! The core password manager part of this app sufficient, it allows you to save all types of passwords, credentials, etc, and it is backed by Lastpass, a password manager service with a very strong reputation and security history. The main downside of this app is that it is less polished than 1) the browser plugins for Lastpass and 2) other similar password services like 1Password, Dashlane, etc. It isn’t quite as beautiful as the competition and the overall user experience is slightly janky.
….and remember what it felt like to feel less pain. I logged in on the Mac App and then on my iPhone. I never logged in through a browser. I paid for premium and less than a month in my password didn’t work anymore. It also rejected my finger for authentication. They were unable to reset my password because I had never logged in through a browser. So my data was trapped. It took two days of back and forth to get them to NEVER admit they were the issue and me to do the research I SHOULD have done before moving all my important details to LastPass. I am now looking at several hours resetting passwords.
No idea but the app on my macbook will run (complete logins for a limited time) and then nothing. Log-ins are half filled in, the browser will log itself out, etc etc. Too buggy for me. I paid for premium but its a waste.
I bought the premium version for my Mac & iPhone. I ended up with an incompatibility issue between my “touch ID” and Masterpassword that kept me locked out. Issue wasn’t listed in frequently asked questions. Tried to open a ticket but couldn’t because I was locked out. Called LastPass and explained situation and that I needed to discuss it with someone in tech support. I was told I can’t. They only way to get help is through opening a ticket. The definition of Catch 22. Don’t take my word for it. Call LastPass @ 800-830-6680 and ask for technical assistance and listen to what they say. I’ve heared it’s a good app until you actually have a problem. In my opinion this is just irresponsible customer service.
I have used Lastpass for many years with Windows and for several years with Mac. It has served me well. I make heavy use of secure notes and I make sure that all my passwords are up to date. Then, when Key Chain messes up or loses a password, I can straighten it out from my Lastpass files. Have you ever accepted a suggested password from Safari only to have the website reject it? You say yes to the password and it disappears. You just have to hope it was saved AND accepted because you have no idea what it was. Safari does not let you copy or save the password you accept so you can paste it in for a trial use. So, if the password is gone, you may be a goner. With Lastpass I can find the password it offered even if it was lost in Safari. It is saved as a “generated password.” I can even roll back to a mistakenly deleted password. I can change the suggested password to meet the unique requirements of a website. With Lastpass I can add notes about the website, like what my security questions are. With Lastpass, I am in control. I can even tell Lastpass never to auto-fill at a website and still instruct it to fill when I need it. I can invent my own name for a website so I can easily separate two accounts at the same site. I can save an encrypted copy of all my passwords or even print one out for my safe deposit box. I love Safari password when it works for the website I am using. But, I can’t do with it what I can do with Lastpass. I love Lastpass because it lets me work around the sites that require a user name and then take me to another page for the password. With dozens and dozens of passwords, I love having both tools keeping my precious access keys safe for me. These two apps play well together and I use them both. But, they play well together because I instruct Lastpass to do what I want. With Safari, it is one size fits all, even if it doesn’t fit.
I’ve been a LastPass user for over a year. I previously used the app on my iPhone and have recently started using it on a Mac. It works great. It’s easy to launch from the list or apply on a page I’ve already opened. Saving new passwords and generating secure passwords for accounts I am creating is easy. I don’t have any complaints on the functionality. I manage over 200 passwords in my account and it’s been a big time saver! The sharing feature is also really convenient.
